U.S. Postal Service Cutting Services

It all boils down to one thing: "My pension or my co-workers' jobs".

The current plans for cutting back the USPS will result in something like 35,000 jobs lost.

Meanwhile the USPS has enough revenue from postage to fund its operations if it did not have to put so much into its pension fund.

But I have not heard in the news any clamoring by postal workers in all ranks and positions to get Congress to approve lowering the pension fund contributions.

That means the postal workers are not anxious to see possible pension cuts in exchange for preserving everyone's jobs.

Also on the drawing board is cutting back mail deliveries from 6 days a week to 5. Would the USPS agree to keep Saturday as one of the five days?
