Correct Word, Wrong Reason
The WRKO radio meterologist said that January 2020 was a lackluster month because Boston had very little snow. Wrong! Less snow makes for a better month. But it was still lackluster. It rained or snowed every weekend.
Playing Wheel Of Fortune at Home
If you are playing the home version of Wheel Of Fortune, or Concentration, or other game where you need to solve a word puzzle or rebus, and you do not have a player sitting out the round to be Master of Ceremonies, then we suggest the following. When a player wishes to solve the puzzle, s/he should write down his/her answer. And also show it to the other players if the rules call for that. Then everyone totals up his/her score (points, dollars, prizes) and writes that down. If any player disagrees with the answer then play continues until another player wants to solve the puzzle or a player wants to submit an amended answer. Again all players total up their scores. When all players agree to stop play or the answer reveals itself (e.g. all letters are chosen) then the first player, if any, who has the correct answer wins that round. This eliminates having to peek at the answer and get an unfair hint before the round is declared over.
Benghazi Revisted?
A few days ago President Trump ordered a small military strike in Baghdad that killed an Iranian general. Then Iran retaliated with two small strikes that did not kill any Americans living just ouside Iran. A Boston talk show host (among others) suggested that President Trump should do nothing for awhile and give the unstable government of Iran a chance to collapse on its own. This would also avoid his falling into a trap set by the Democrats, being tricked into starting a war he does not want, detracting from his re-election chances. But others say that by doing nothing, President Trump will have abandoned the troops stationed just outside Iran, alo detracting from his re-election chances.
Please Vote Absentee In The Primaries
A lot of you folks will miss voting at the polling places this coming November 2020. This is because you have to leave to go to work before the polls open or because the waiting lines are too long. Or your commute home is too late to go and vote or you have to stay late at work and miss voting.
Get an absentee ballot for the primary so you can have some practice using absentee ballots. Then get an absentee ballot for the main election unless you can plan on voting in the morning or midday at the polls.
The USA needs every vote so the best candidates can be chosen.
Do Not Use Nine Volt Battery
For those of you who dissect or repair Christmas light strings and test the individual bulbs, do not use a 9 volt battery. That would shorten the life of the bulbs if not burn them out immediately.
Tanks On Washigton Mall
If a Republican is elected president in 2020, tanks will be brought out to the fourth of July celebration and parked so people can stand in front of them and have pictures taken.
If a Democrat is elected president in 2020, tanks will go through the streets and Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms offcers or Internal Revenue Service officers will get out to seize guns and jewelry and money and maybe seize homes and businesses.
How To Walk On A Stopped Escalator
1. Walk up to the escalator, stopping with both feet at the edge before the first step up (or step down).
2. Put both feet on the first step up (or step down)
3. Put both feet on the next step.
4. Walk up (or down) normally, stopping with both feet on the second to last step.
5. Put both feet on the last step.
6. Put both feet on the landing.
7. Walk away.
(A "step" that is even with the landing counts as part of the landing.)
